On Monday 31st October, Birmingham City Council confirmed that there were cases of Avian Influenza reaching the West Midlands. The government have implemented a compulsory housing order across the UK for caged and aviary birds to reduce the risks of transmission.
Further advice is available from the Gov.UK website.
In relation to injured or sick wild birds, the Practice is not able to accept these into our premises at this time. Clients should not touch injured or sick wild birds, but should make a note of their location and contact the relevant council authority who will have specialist environmental officers to deal with this situation.
Thank you for your assistance.
